After a loud noise in the ground, people ran back and suddenly discovered a hole about 15-20 m deep and over 3 m wide.

On the morning of May 17, talking with a reporter of Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Tran Duc Loi, Vice Chairman of Quy Hop District People’s Committee, Nghe An province, said that in Cong village, Chau Hong commune, a large deep hole had just appeared. after the sound emanating from the ground.

Before that, around 3pm on May 16, while working in the fields, some villagers were startled when they heard a loud noise. Approaching the area where the sound was coming from, many people panicked when they discovered a hole over 3m wide and 15-20m deep.

“After receiving the notice, the district requested the People’s Committee of Chau Hong commune to immediately set up a warning sign, spread ropes, and prohibit curious people from coming to see it to ensure safety. This morning, May 17, the district’s delegation will directly to the inspection site”- Mr. Loi added

It is known that Chau Hong commune has been the capital of mining minerals such as white stone and tin ore for decades. From the end of 2019 to April 2022, Chau Hong commune has 279 domestic water wells that have dried up at the bottom, 13 subsidence holes in wet rice fields, along streams, 114 houses are cracked, cracked…

Facing the above situation, the People’s Committee of Quy Hop district has contracted with the Geological Federation of North Central Vietnam to conduct a detailed survey and assessment to find the cause of the subsidence phenomenon.
