Chaos during the reception of idol group ENHYPEN, many female fans were pushed

The incident took place on May 16 at Incheon International Airport – South Korea. Band members ENHYPEN return home after completing the schedule abroad. Many fans gathered to greet them and many of them were female fans.

In a video clip circulating online, ENHYPEN’s bodyguard violently shoved a female fan, the force of which caused many people to fear causing a dangerous situation.

Bodyguards push female fans

Controversy appeared, some of the public criticized the group management company ENHYPEN, others supported the bodyguard’s tough handling and supported the company.

They commented, “This isn’t the first time an idol group’s bodyguard has pushed others just because they’ve invaded their idol’s space. Please don’t defend! They shouldn’t be so violent”; “The bodyguard acted correctly when being tough like that to avoid crazy fans who might appear to be dangerous for the group members. They just did their responsibilities”…

It is not uncommon for fans to see off and greet popular idol groups every time they go to the airport. Sometimes, the number of fans is too much and the order cannot be maintained, leading to a crowd that threatens the safety of the group members. Bodyguards are hired to ensure safety, so they focus their work, sometimes forcefully leading to accusations of violence and assault.

In order to keep the road intact, many netizens believe that fans should be orderly and conscious in picking up their idols, and that bodyguards also need to reduce their scowling and aggressive attitude when dealing with female fans.

ENHYPE is a South Korean boy band formed by Belift Lab, a joint venture between CJ ENM and Hybe Corporation. The group debuted in 2020 with 7 members, reaping several awards for new groups.
