After a long wait, Isuzu mu-X 2022 has appeared on its factory premises in Ho Chi Minh City, showing that the official launch date is not far away. Sales consultants have revealed information about the sale of this model after the Lunar New Year 2021, but because of the Covid-19 epidemic, the plan was affected. Isuzu mu-X 2022 is the second generation, possessing a completely different design from its “predecessor”. The 3-panel side glass is seamless, not separate as before. The front light cluster is slimmer, integrated with LED technology. The LED taillights are also more compact. The large grille still carries the typical Isuzu style. Smoky gray tone wheel, not a 2-tone milling type like the Thai market.
The mu-X chassis is also new. The vehicle dimensions have changed with an increase of 25 mm in length, 10 mm in width and 15 mm in height. The wheelbase is extended by 10mm. Ground clearance 235 mm.
The interior of the car is also completely different from before. New 3-spoke steering wheel. The central 9-inch touchscreen supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The handbrake is electronic. The realistic embossed finish has more soft plastic details, instead of the hard plastic.
Despite being a new generation, the mu-X retains the same engine options as before. 1.9 liter diesel engine for 150 horsepower capacity, 350 Nm torque. The 3-liter diesel engine has a capacity of 190 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque. 6-speed automatic or 6-speed manual transmission.
With so many upgrades, Isuzu mu-X 2022 is expected to have better sales. In the segment of mid-size SUVs with removable chassis, this is the slowest selling model even though the price is only from 799 million VND. In the first 4 months of 2022, the car only achieved sales of 140 cars, far behind Toyota Fortuner (2,761 cars), Ford Everest (935 cars) and Mitsubishi Pajero Sport (700 cars), not to mention in the price range still having to compete with Hyundai. Santa Fe or Kia Sorento.
