The police of Hoi An city (Quang Nam province) on the afternoon of May 17 said that they had identified the man holding a little girl to jump from Cua Dai bridge at noon on the same day.

The man was identified as Mr. Mai Xuan B. (29 years old) and his daughter as Mai Ngoc Dieu L. (6 years old). Father and son live at motel 70, Nguyen Trung Truc street, Da Nang city.
It is known that the weather in the area where the incident happened had strong winds and large river water, and the functional forces had to mobilize all kinds of overseas fishing nets to search for the baby’s whereabouts.
As soon as he received the bad news, the wife of the victim Mr. B went to the place where the incident happened. However, the wife is currently fainting and should be monitored and treated at the hospital.

As reported, at about 11am on the same day, passersby discovered that Mr. B. was carrying his grandson L. suddenly climbed over the railing of Cua Dai bridge and threw himself into the Thu Bon river. Discovering the incident, everyone ran to stop it, but it was too late.
On Cua Dai Bridge, the victim left a motorbike with license plate number 29E1-780.14, next to it were yellow sandals believed to belong to L.
At 12 noon this afternoon, the authorities found the father’s body.
