In the seminar with the theme “Inspiring creativity among young people”, Mr. Dang Kim Long, External Affairs Director of Huawei Vietnam, shared the story of promoting research and development (R&D) of new technologies for younger generation. For Huawei, R&D is considered a marathon and requires constant investment. The innovation that drives investment focuses on three key areas, including fundamental theory discovery, system architecture architecture, and attracting talent to tackle international challenges.

According to Mr. Dang Kim Long, attracting financial talent is one of the problems that businesses always worry about, because investing in talent is not picking sweet fruits overnight, it’s a long journey. Therefore, Huawei does not put pressure on scientists, instead creating a playground for researchers to develop.

As both a researcher and an executive at a business specializing in investing in the production and trading of scientific and technological products, Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong Lien, co-founder and Vice President of Sao Thai Duong Group, Vice President President of the Vietnam Association of Science and Technology Enterprises, shared about being well aware of the role and responsibility of Vietnamese enterprises in developing products from scientific research.

To encourage young scientists to be creative, Sao Thai Duong founded the Student Support Fund of Hanoi University of Pharmacy, awarded prizes, ordered centers, research institutes and transferred technology to commercialize products. Products.

Regarding advice for young people doing science, Mr. Tran Manh Bao, General Director of ThaiBinh Seed Group Joint Stock Company shared, each young person needs to clearly define their path and mission in life. Mr. Tran Manh Bao said that for young people, no matter what field they work in, determining the path and ambition is important and especially in any situation, they should think positively.

In the panel session, in the role of moderator, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Bao Son, Vice President of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, along with speakers who are experts in the field of science and technology, discussed to solve the problem. At the 2022 Young Scientists Conference, there was also an awarding ceremony for the 2022 Science Innovation Contest organized by VnExpress. The contest wishes to create a useful and interesting playground for professional and amateur scientists under the age of 40, to inspire creativity and promote applied research into practice. The Science Innovation Contest targets 5 areas, including: Biomedical – biochemistry, education, environment, agriculture and new materials.

This contest has attracted the attention of many scientists, including young researchers from domestic and foreign institutes and universities. With more than 100 entries, after the preliminary round, the jury selected 29 finalists.

At the ceremony, the Organizing Committee presented 7 awards to authors and groups of authors.

In particular, the contest awarded a Special prize worth 100 million VND to author Dong Quang Hung, Zunibal Vietnam Co., Ltd., with the solution offered by combining modern satellite technology with traditional floating to help in efficient fishing. The advantage of this initiative is to help fishermen gain access to technology, increase fish catch by 3-5 times, and save up to 40% on fuel.
