New generation Honda CR-V revealed

ChinaThe crossover that appeared in the East Asian country could be a preview version of the new generation CR-V for the rest of the markets.

The sixth generation of the C-size crossover was introduced by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), showing the entire exterior design before its launch this year. For the rest of the world, like in the US and Europe, the 2023 CR-V is said to be not much different from the version in China.

Compared to the design in Honda’s patent application a few months ago, the real model is not much different. The elongated bonnet style, slimmer LED headlights, wide grille, simple front bumper.

The taillights still retain the L-shape but are smoothed out. The license plate mount is pushed higher, closer to the logo. The introduced version is the Turbo version with two exhaust pipes.

Customers in China will only have the option of an internal combustion engine, with a 1.5-liter, 4-cylinder, turbo engine with a capacity of 190 horsepower. Front-wheel drive or optional 4-wheel drive with CVT transmission.

In other markets, the new generation CR-V can add hybrid versions as e:HEV. One of them combines a 2.0-liter engine with two electric motors, like the current e:HEV, while a new plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version is said to be sold in tandem.

The CR-V e:HEV is the only one in Europe, where Honda has electrified the entire lineup. The North American market will have both internal combustion engine versions as well as hybrid versions, with Honda sharing the same proportions for both product lines.

CR-V sold in China is 4,703 mm long, 1,866 mm wide and 1,680 or 1,690 mm high depending on the version. Compared to the current generation, the new generation is 80 mm longer and 11 mm wider, the height remains the same. The wheelbase has also increased by 41 mm, at 2,710 mm, which means more interior space.

Interior images are not available yet, but the new CR-V is said to feature a new gauge cluster, and a larger infotainment screen. Like the new Civic, the center console of the CR-V 2023 is mainly composed of horizontal lines. Vehicles equipped with the new generation Honda Sensing safety package, with advanced driver assistance technology ADAS.

The new generation Honda CR-V is expected to launch in the next few months. In China, the crossover is produced by Honda’s joint venture, Dongfeng Honda.

In Viet Nam, CR-VAT The current generation is sold with 4 versions, including E, G, L and LSE with the suggested price of 998-1,138 million VND.
