Tien Trong shared, the idea of ​​​​proposing to his girlfriend arose more than two months ago, when he was in the rush to prepare for the 31st SEA Games. “I was determined to win a gold medal to propose to my girlfriend. It is both a pressure and a motivation for me to accomplish two goals: to bring victory to my country and to show my love to the girl I love,” said the male athlete.

Near the day of the competition, Tien Trong asked his mother, Nguyen Thi Doan, to choose a ring for his future daughter-in-law, because he focused on practicing. On the day of the official match, he reminded his mother to take the ring to My Dinh stadium. “If I win the championship, please give me the ring. Otherwise, keep it,” Trong told his mother. Mrs. Doan dimly recognized her son’s intentions.

On the afternoon of May 15, the 25-year-old man and his teammate Tran Van Dien competed. Tien Trong won the gold medal with a time of 7.8 m. This is not the best result because he holds the national record with 7.98 m.

As soon as he knew he had won the gold medal, he immediately informed his girlfriend, waited for her to finish the match, and returned to celebrate at My Dinh stadium, 12 km away.

During the two hours of waiting, Trong mumbled what he was going to say during the marriage proposal, sometimes looking at his watch, hoping to see his girlfriend soon. “Even if I have to compete for two more SEA Games, I won’t be as nervous and pressured as when I stand in front of my girlfriend to express,” the boy said with a smile.

At 7 pm, Trinh was on the field. Tien Trong quickly received the ring box from his mother, went to meet his girlfriend. The happy moment of the two athletes was recorded by teammates and spectators.

Successfully proposed, the male athlete immediately called his girlfriend’s family in Dak Lak to ask for permission. “I wanted to call the two doctors before the match, but I didn’t know what the results were, because I was afraid of not meeting expectations, so I had to delay the time. Fortunately, Trinh’s family was supportive,” Tien Trong shared.

Whenever he has free time, the male athlete often cooks rice for his girlfriend. “Loving the disadvantaged athlete, especially during the epidemic period and preparing for the SEA Games, when we can’t go out, makes us appreciate the brief encounters. I always wish for the best for the person I love. love,” Trong said.

Tien Trong has completed his task at SEA Games 31 and Phuong Trinh will compete in one more content. After the end of the congress, the couple will return to meet their families, after discussing about the wedding.

Tien Trong and Phuong Trinh also plan to go on a short trip to rest, after a series of intense training days.
