Uber also launched a new service called Uber Charter, aimed at customers traveling in large groups (weddings, business trips, festivals…). Customers in the US can already order this service for an upfront fee.
Uber is also expanding its Comfort service, which is more expensive than UberX but more economical than Uber Black. The service uses electric vehicles, and the company has set a goal of having 100% electric vehicles in North America by 2030.
Currently, the company is encouraging drivers to switch to electric vehicles through the new Comfort Electric product. Only high-end vehicles, such as the Tesla, Polestar, and Ford Mustang Mach-E, are considered eligible for Comfort Electric rides.
Under the “get anything” section, customers with Google Home smart devices can now order food delivery through Uber Eats.
Uber is also working with two autonomous vehicle companies, Serve Robotics and Motional, to test robotic deliveries. Serve Robotics operates a delivery robot that moves on the sidewalk, while Motional uses a Hyundai Ioniq 5 SUV.
