Vietnam – Laos promote cooperation in National Assembly activities

On May 16, right after the official welcome ceremony at the National Assembly House of Laos, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue held talks with Lao National Assembly President Saysomphone Phomvihan.

After the talks, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and Lao National Assembly President Saysomphone Phomvihan witnessed the signing ceremony and exchange of cooperation documents including: Cooperation agreement between the National Assembly of Vietnam and the National Assembly of Laos in the period of 2022-2026; Cooperation agreement between Vietnam Ethnic Council and Lao People’s Committee; Cooperation agreement between Vietnam National Assembly Office and Laos National Assembly Office; Cooperation agreement between the Committee for Ethnic Minority Affairs of the Government of Vietnam and the Lao Front for national construction.

On the same day, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue paid a courtesy visit to Mr. Thongloun Sisoulith, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, President of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic.

At the same time, coordinate well to organize meaningful activities to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and the 45th anniversary of the signing of the Vietnam – Laos Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation in 2022.

On the same day, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue visited former General Secretary and President of Laos Bounnhang Vorachith at his home. Former Party General Secretary and President Bounnhang Vorachith emphasized that the Vietnam-Laos relationship is “righteous and sincere”, “rice grain is cut in half, vegetable stalk is broken in half”, and said that economic cooperation between the two countries is important. of great significance, especially in the context that both countries are being affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Former Party General Secretary and President of Laos also believes that boosting economic cooperation between the two countries will help the two countries overcome current difficulties, recover and develop stronger in the coming time.

Earlier in the morning of the same day, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and the Vietnamese National Assembly delegation laid a wreath at the Monument to the Unknown Soldiers in Vientiane. On the occasion of the official visit to the Lao PDR, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue announced to donate computers, projectors and cameras to the Secretariat of the Lao National Assembly; donated to Champasak Provincial Boarding School, Friendship School and Vietnamese Association in 4 southern Laos provinces with computers, Vietnamese books, briefcases and some teaching and learning equipment, totaling 5 billion VND.
