Nguyen Van Lai won 2 gold medals in the most extreme events of athletics, 5,000 m and 10,000 m, but this athlete is still humble when he thinks this is a good thing.

One last round, the 36-year-old runner accelerated and gradually left the opponent. He finished first with a time of 32 minutes 17 seconds 34. Deus won the silver medal and Van Thao won the bronze medal.

After reaching the finish line, Van Lai thanked his teammate Van Thao for his support throughout the journey.

Van Lai said: “The strategy set by the coaching team is that both me and Thao are in the top medals, so there will be times when either me or Thao take the lead. We have completed the strategy well, leaving Thao and me. It’s more precious than my own gold medal.”

Nguyen Van Lai took souvenir photos with his wife and children on the podium to receive the award.

On May 15, Van Lai also won a gold medal in the men’s 5,000 m content. Up to now, he has won a total of 6 gold medals, 2 silver medals and 3 bronze medals, since the 2011 SEA Games. With a double gold medal at the age of 36, SEA Games 31 is one of Van’s two most successful times. Lai, next to 2013.

“This year, I was really lucky because my Thai opponent got injured and couldn’t attend even though I went to Vietnam.
