In the solemn atmosphere of the Celebration of Vietnam Science and Technology Day, the 2022 Ta Quang Buu Prize was awarded to 2 scientists. That is Professor, Doctor of Science Ngo Viet Trung, Institute of Mathematics, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, in the field of Mathematics with the work “Depth functions of symbolic powers of homogeneous ideals – Cumulative depth functions take the form of the homogeneous idea”. Idean’s work on a very basic invariant is depth, which solves 3 open problems related to the increment of the depth function, the convergence of the depth function and the achievement of a given periodicity of the depth function. depth function. This is the first time a work done in Vietnam has been published in the journal Inventiones Mathematica, one of the few leading mathematical journals in the world.

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thi Le Thu, University of Science and Technology, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City, in the field of Chemistry with the Project: Designing the interface of hard – soft areas with dynamic links Diels–Alder: Targets high-quality mechanical and self-healing properties at medium temperatures. Research results contribute to building a new research direction of the world, and start the development of new “self-healing” materials products in Vietnam.

Since 2014, Ta Quang Buu Award has become an important and annual event in celebration of Vietnam Science and Technology Day.

Prizes are awarded to scientists with outstanding results in a fundamental field. In 2022, the National Foundation for Science and Technology Development – Award Standing Body (NAFOSTED) received 48 applications to participate in the Award. From 48 nominations/candidates, the specialized scientific councils have unanimously nominated 5 applications for the main prize and the young award. The Award Council proposed 2 scientists for the Minister of Science and Technology to present the Main Prize (No Young Prize).

Up to now, 16 scientists have been awarded the Main Prize, 4 scientists have been awarded the award for young scientists out of a total of more than 300 applications registered to attend the Ta Quang Buu Prize in 2022.
