Revealed about King Tut’s tomb after 100 years of finding

Born in London in 1874, archeology legend Howard Carter first came to Egypt at the age of 17 and worked at several archaeological sites in Egypt while perfecting his profession of illustrator. In 1907, English nobleman George Herbert, fifth earl of Carnarvon, encouraged Carter to lead an expedition in search of Egyptian royal tombs, including that of Tutankhamun, a king young ruler of Egypt from 1333 to 1323 BC and died at the age of 19.

Although World War I interrupted the search, Carter and a team of workers spent several years searching for the grave, with no luck. In 1922, the same year Egypt declared its independence from Britain after 40 years of direct colonial control, Count Herbert gave Carter an ultimatum: Find that grave, or the expedition will be over.

On November 4, 1922, Carter and his associates found a stone step that led to a sealed room. Three weeks later, they entered the four-chambered tomb and discovered thousands of meaningful items that accompanied the young king to the afterlife. After two months of careful excavation, they finally found a stone coffin with three nested coffins inside. The final coffin – the coffin containing the 3,000-year-old mummy of King Tutankhamun – is made of solid gold.

However, the Egyptians, including children, hired to work on Carter’s expedition were largely unrecognized. Carter only thanked his four Egyptian foremans: Ahmed Gerigar, Gad Hassan, Hussein Abu Awad and Hussein Ahmed Said in his books about the expedition, but he never mentioned the Ai members. The other in his search team consisted of 60 to 100 people.

On the 100th anniversary of the discovery of King Tut’s tomb, the Weston Library of the University of Oxford, England organized an exhibition of the artifacts of this discovery, including many black and white photographs of the remains. leading to the discovery of King Tut’s tomb.
