Thanking the Ambassador for those good reviews, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc recently assessed that Vietnam and Brunei have successfully cooperated in taking on the role of ASEAN Chair, the President suggested that the two countries continue to work together. close cooperation in ASEAN, the United Nations, APEC… The President also welcomed the results of the ASEAN-US Special Summit, and the countries agreed to support the upgrade to a Comprehensive and Balanced Strategic Partnership. major country relations.

Regarding the East Sea issue, the President suggested the two sides need to coordinate more closely, together with ASEAN to maintain solidarity and common voice, to ensure peace, security and stability in the East Sea; promote the implementation of the DOC and negotiate the effective and substantive COC in accordance with international law and the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS 1982).

Congratulating the upcoming Ambassador on receiving a new assignment, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc wished that, regardless of his position, the Ambassador would always promote Vietnam – Brunei relations.
