On the same day, around 14:00 on May 17, a group of about 15 students went to the beach in Hai Dong commune, Hai Hau district, Nam Dinh province to play.
In the group, there were about 3 children going into the sea to bathe, after a while they were swept away by the waves, people nearby saved the other 2 children. 1 child was swept away by water and could not be found.
According to Mr. Tu (people living next to the beach), that day the sea level was very high, the wind was very strong, a lot of students went to the beach to swim.
“There were children who bathed away from me and chased them close to the shore. After a while, a group of children got a foam sheet and brought it to the sea, where there was a whirlpool. After that, seeing 3 children in danger, people swam out to pull 2 children to shore, but one child was nowhere to be seen.
When we brought the two children to shore, they immediately ran away, we stopped to ask and learned that the children in Hai Hung commune came out to play.” Tu said.
