Found the twin sister after 47 years of being separated thanks to the citizen identification

On the afternoon of May 19, Colonel Vo Van Thanh, Chief of Police of Hoai Nhon town (Binh Dinh), confirmed that this agency had helped Ms. Mai Thi Ben (62 years old, living in Hoai Chau Bac commune, Hoai Nhon town) to find received a twin sister who is living in Phu Yen province, after 47 years they have been separated from each other.

According to Hoai Nhon town police, on May 16, when doing procedures to issue a citizen identity card for Ms. Mai Thi Ben, the computer reported that Ms. Ben’s face had been granted a citizen ID for a woman named Do Do. Thi C. (62 years old, living in An Thach commune, Tuy An district, Phu Yen) in March 2022.

When officials found out, Ms. Ben said she lost her family at the age of 11, and was adopted by a couple in Hoai Chau Bac commune. Since then, she has not known her biological parents, where her hometown is. Mrs. Ben only remembers that she has a twin sister.

Hoai Nhon town police have requested Tuy An district police to help find Ms. C. to verify the incident. Ms. C. confirmed that she has a twin sister, lost since 1975, the family searched many times but to no avail.

Through the connection of Hoai Nhon Town Police, the two sisters, Ms. Ben, were able to contact each other. Both women were moved, happy, and shed tears when they found each other after 47 years of being lost.
