Recently, the program Sing for Tomorrow was broadcast with the participation of musician Duc Huy, singer Phuong Thanh, musician Vu Quoc Viet as judges and led by MC Quyen Linh.

“Right at the time of Da Nang’s outbreak last year, I started providing food with free meals to hospitals.

With decades of physical training, I am confident in my resistance, so I volunteered to be a carrier, in direct contact with disease clusters.

Accompanying me are also like-minded friends and they are in charge of cooking and preparing nutritious meals.

In order to protect the environment and help the rice portions taste better, my group bought stainless steel lunch boxes, which are full of chopsticks and spoons to store food.

After delivering those meals to hospitals, I had to disinfect them before receiving them to continue making other meals. Not only that, but my volunteer group also had to time it to prepare rice so that when brought to the hospital, the rice portions were still hot and delicious.

The reason why I am motivated to join the frontline from the first day is because I myself have experienced many hardships and difficulties in life.

I am a single mother, raising two daughters on my own and once suffering from a serious thyroid disease. After overcoming that disease, I started participating in community activities. It is the spirit of a volunteer that gives me strength and joy in life.

My oldest daughter is currently studying abroad, and my younger daughter lives with me. Because I raised my children alone and was close to them, all the big and small things in the life of parents and children shared with each other.

In order to prevent difficulties encountered when participating in the fight against the epidemic, I said my last words to my daughter.

I told her: “I have always known that you are a person who can only find joy and meaning in life when participating in volunteer activities.

So, if unfortunately my mother has to leave during this epidemic, please forgive me.”

My daughter was worried at first, but then she became very supportive of me.”

On television, Huong also sent words to her children, making the judges emotional:

Let me apologize to my children because I have not had time to take you out for many years, even on weekends, because every weekend I participate in community activities.

A daughter once cried to her mother, saying:Why does your mother take you out every weekend, but your mother doesn’t take you out?”

At that time, I just said that when you grow up, you will understand what I am doing. But today, through the program, I also want to send my apologies and I love you so much“.

Listening to Ms. Thu Huong’s story, MC Quyen Linh expressed emotion: “I think, it is during that pandemic that the hidden power inside people has the opportunity to emerge.

And when doing works for the community, when giving love, the givers themselves also receive joy and happiness.”

Singer Phuong Thanh tearfully said: “I had tears in my eyes when I heard the story of the volunteer meals that Thu Huong’s group made.

As a front-line activist, I understand better than anyone the importance of hot meals and it will give strength to frontline doctors.”
