Ministry of Science and Technology honors 2 authors of Ta Quang Buu Award 2022

On May 18, in Hanoi, the 2022 Ta Quang Buu Award Ceremony was held by the Ministry of Science and Technology on the occasion of Vietnam Science and Technology Day.

Attending the ceremony were Comrades Vu Duc Dam – Deputy Prime Minister, Ms. Nguyen Thi Le Thuy – Standing member of the National Assembly’s Committee on Science, Technology and Environment, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Tran Van Tung, Deputy Minister Bui The Duy and leaders of ministries, branches, research institutes, universities and scientists.

During the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Ngo Viet Trung of the Institute of Mathematics, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology received the award for his work “Depth functions of symbolic powers of homogeneous ideals”. .

The project is a combination of Prof. TSKH. Ngo Viet Trung and Dr. Nguyen Dang Hop studies a very basic invariant of Idean, depth, which solves 3 open problems related to the increment of the depth function, the convergence of the depth function and the achievement of a given periodicity. of the depth function. Prof. Ngo Viet Trung did not forget to thank the people who helped him to complete the research and especially his wife who accompanied him for a long time. “Finally, I would like to thank my wife for courageously putting up with a disabled math worker and sacrificing her career to take care of my family so that I could pursue a career in scientific research with peace of mind.”he said.

The second prize went to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Le Thu, University of Science and Technology (VNU-HCM), for the work of making a new polyurethane material system – a self-healing polymer with a structure containing a Diels-Alder reversible bond. are not randomly located but are specially designed to be arranged at the interface between the hard and soft phases of polyurethane. The material can “self-heal” when micro-cracks appear, helping the product to have a long service life, thereby reducing repair costs, providing effective application and economic efficiency, and saving energy. quantity, resources and waste. Research results contribute to building a new research direction of the world, and start the development of new “self-healing” materials products in Vietnam.

The work was published in the journal Chemistry of Materials Chemistry of Materials in chemistry.
