Ms. Dang Thi Hue – the mother of 2 wrestlers said that besides My Hanh and My Trang, the family currently has two youngest children who are also practicing Wrestling. In which, My Linh has participated in the Vietnam Wrestling Team and my sister My Tien is also following in the footsteps of her sisters. “I am very pleased and happy when my children won the gold medal to bring home for the country’s sport at this 31st SEA Games,” said Ms. Hue.

In a simple outfit, standing and talking to reporters at Gia Lam Gymnasium, Ms. Hue said that despite the difficult family conditions, the children were determined to learn this martial art: “We also support and always encourage the children to practice hard to bring glory to the province and the country”.

My Hanh, born in 1997, is the second child in a family of 7 siblings. Above Hanh has an older brother born in 1996, below her are 5 younger brothers My Trang (2001), My Linh (2003), My Tien (2005) and two younger children.

The family has many children, so the “golden girl” family has to work through all kinds of jobs to make a living as well as send the children to school. Mr. Nguyen Dang Son – Hanh’s father is a mechanical worker, but the meager salary is not enough to support 7 children, so he has to do many other jobs… hard from early morning to late at night, whoever asks to do whatever money and as long as they don’t break the law, they all accept.

As for Mrs. Hue, every day she has to get up at 3 am to sell fish. Going around in the rhythm of earning a living to feed their children to school, Mr. Son and Mrs. Hue do not have much time to take care of and give their children enough things like other peers.

Knowing the family situation, My Hanh is the big sister who told the children, many people in the district market are not strange with the scene where the children go to the market to sell fish to help their mother, even the sisters Hanh go to find crabs to catch snails. For a girl who has just turned 20 years old like My Trang, her miserable childhood is still imprinted in her memory: “When the youngest brother was not born, my family was very difficult. The whole family of 8 people lived in the house. Level 4 is shabby, when it rains, it leaks. Six brothers and sisters sleep in the same room, at first they can sleep on the bed, but then it’s too tight and they have to lie down on the floor to sleep,” My Trang shared.

Wrestling changed my life…

Recalling the opportunity to follow Wrestling, My Hanh said that in 2010, during a visit, she happened to see Hanh, the family’s cousin, invited her to follow wrestling. No matter what, Hanh agreed and the girl born in 1997 began to fall in love with this sport.

According to wrestling for more than a year, despite working hard but having a job, having money, even now My Hanh has a reputation in the “wrestling world”, Hanh began to invite My Trang to follow.

“At that time, I followed wrestling partly because of passion, the rest because of difficult family circumstances. I thought that if I went to the city to practice, I would help my family eat. In my dream, I still wish. I can go to school and then go to work in a profession, but it’s not wrestling because this is just my passion… However, with encouragement from her sister, the two sisters also gradually got used to wrestling and determined to go. follow to the end”, My Trang – 31st SEA Games champion honestly said.

Talking about the way her children followed in the footsteps of Hanh and Trang, Ms. Hue said that sometimes the coaches come home to play and visit.
