The Investigation Police Agency of Kim Son District Police (Ninh Binh) has summoned and clarified the behavior of “Purchase and sale of personal information” for Hoang Ngoc Giap (SN 1995); Tran Van Tinh (SN 1993) and Nguyen Thi Ngoc Bich (SN 2001) live in Kim Son.

Initially, the subjects admitted that, in the process of participating in playing on international virtual currency exchanges, Hoang Ngoc Giap knew a person of foreign nationality but his name, age, and address were unknown. This person talked to Giap on the Telegram app and asked Giap to get people’s personal data information to sell for $35/person, Giap agreed, inviting Tran Van Tinh, Nguyen Thi Ngoc Bich to join him. participation.

Initially, Giap, Tinh and Bich asked for personal information of family members and acquaintances without paying them. After that, the subjects asked friends and relatives to introduce people to get personal information and promised to pay each person providing information 300,000 VND. Giap requires each person providing personal information to hold an A4-size white paper in front of their chest to take a portrait, then ask people to give their citizen ID card to take a photo.

By the above trick, from the beginning of March 2022 to present, Giap, Tinh and Bich have collected personal data of more than 100 people in Kim Son district. After that, Giap transferred the collected personal data to a foreigner via the Telegram application, who paid Giap a total amount of nearly 80 million dong in the form of virtual currency (Bitcoin, Litecoin…).

Hoang Ngoc Giap sold these virtual currencies and converted them into Vietnamese currency. The amount of money Giap earns is about 30 million VND, Tinh and Bich each benefit about more than 20 million VND.

Currently, Kim Son District Police are continuing to investigate and handle the case in accordance with the law.
