Establishing a network of Vietnamese scientists and technology entrepreneurs in the US

On the occasion of his visit to the US, on May 18, Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son, and representatives of Innovation Networks in Japan and South Korea. , Europe and Australia joined the meeting and launched the standing committee in San Francisco.

The Vietnam Innovation Network in the US will coordinate with the National Innovation Center (NIC) to promote 5 areas: STEM education, business support, technology semiconductor, biotechnology, and blockchain technology (Blockchain).

Members of the Innovation Network in the US include more than 50 doctors and masters who are working at universities and large technology corporations such as Facebook, Google, NASA, Cisco and many other names.

At the meeting, Minister Nguyen Chi Dung said: “Many experts, scientists, and entrepreneurs have to frequently move between the US and Vietnam to implement projects in Silicon Valley. Recently, due to the COVID-19 epidemic, many projects have been interrupted, but I hope that, in the near future, there will be more Vietnamese entrepreneurs and scientists living in the US who will bring their dreams to life. Then return to Vietnam to develop the country together.

Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Dung, the main coordinator in the process of campaigning and connecting the NIC Vietnamese experts and intellectuals in San Francisco to participate in the sharing network: “NIC will continue to be the sponsor, coordinate and connect the activities of as well as component networks to gather and promote the great intellectual resources of Vietnamese people around the world, contribute to part in promoting Vietnam’s innovation in the coming time.”

Dr. Cao Anh Tuan, a member of the network since 2018 shared, meeting with Minister Nguyen Chi Dung in 2018 helped him confidently locate Genetica’s headquarters in Vietnam, instead of Singapore as originally planned. Currently, the NIC-Genetica gene sequencing center has been put into operation at the National Innovation Center, becoming one of the largest capacity gene sequencing centers in Southeast Asia, complying with CLIA international standards.

Especially for Blockchain technology, Genetica, Asia’s leading genetic engineering company, and Oasis Labs (a blockchain network) officially signed a cooperation agreement under the witness and support of the Prime Minister’s delegation. .

Vietnam Innovation Network was announced in 2018 in Hanoi to promote building an innovation ecosystem to best support startups and innovative ideas. create breakthroughs, help businesses grow high in order to develop the national economy.

The National Innovation Center (NIC) is a unit under the Ministry of Planning and Investment, established by the Prime Minister in 2019. The Minister of Planning and Investment assigned the NIC to act as the focal point for exchange between network members. At the same time, the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Innovation Network in the US also acts as an introduction for Vietnamese scientists, startups, and inventors to know about the Vietnam Innovation Network and participate in this network. In addition, NIC is also a direct focal point to support and connect ideas and projects related to Vietnam when partners return to Vietnam.

In the past 3 years, many activities of the Vietnamese intellectual and business community in the US in Silicon Valley have been promoted quickly and conveniently. Among them can be mentioned the Genetica gene decoding project with copyright technology for Asians; GmarTech project to train digital marketing human resources; STEAM for Vietnam project, and Blockchain technology training project and many other high-tech projects.
