In the basement is hell
In previous haunted house horror movies, demons were often summoned through voodoo rituals or inhabited by specific objects. But what if the basement right under your feet is a direct path to hell? “The Cellar” (“The Apocalypse”) will let the audience witness the horror when the devil can appear in the beloved home at any time.
The story of “The Apocalypse” begins when Keira Woods (Elisha Cuthbert) moves into a new house with her husband Brian (Eoin Macken), son Steven (Dylan Fitzmaurice) and daughter Ellie (Abby Fitz). Since coming here, Ellie has had an uneasy feeling because of a series of strange symbols appearing on every wall. In particular, the pitch-black basement always makes her feel scared because a dark force surrounds her.
During a power outage at home one night, Ellie called her mother for help. However, Keira asked her daughter to go down to the basement to turn on the light. Through the phone, she instructed Ellie to just count 10 steps to get to the basement. But, the counting sounds kept increasing. By the time Keira and Brian got home, their daughter had mysteriously disappeared.
From there, horrifying events began to hit the Woods family more and more, from the old phonograph making a strange sound to the macabre images drawn with some kind of ink in the basement as well. like Steven’s weird expression. Is the cellar the path leading directly to the hell of the evil Baphomet? What must Keira do to save her daughter from a horrible ending?
Based on the horror short film “The Ten Steps” that won the award in 2011, “The Apocalypse” will be a work that will haunt viewers even when they step out of the theater. The film is directed by Brendan Muldowney – the young director behind “The Ten Steps” with the participation of the beautiful Elisha Cuthbert of “The Girl Next Door” (2004), “House of Wax” (2005) and “My” Sassy Girl” (2008).
The film is scheduled to premiere on May 27, 2022 in cinemas nationwide.
