Shooting at high school in Germany, one person injured

On May 19 (local time), Bremerhaven police received a notice of a case shootings at a high school in this city. Service shoot seriously injured one person.

Germany’s Bild newspaper reported that the incident took place at Lloyd’s High School, adding that a female student called the police when she heard gunshots.

Authorities in Bremerhaven confirmed that local police had launched an investigation into the attack and asked residents to avoid the area. The local police are continuing to investigate the incident to identify those involved.

In a press release, Bremerhaven police said an armed person was arrested and the injured person was taken to hospital.

“The students are in the classroom with their teacher. Police are monitoring the situation on the spot,” the police statement added. “Police measures are continuing to be implemented.”

According to Bild, the suspect is a man also armed with a crossbow. He was arrested.

The injured person was a woman, a staff member of the high school, not a student, Bild newspaper reported.

About 200 students were at Lloyd High School at the time of the shooting. At the scene of the incident, students tried to block the doors of their classrooms.

Worried parents gathered in front of the school after their children announced the situation.
