Before that, on April 28, 1936, Egyptian King Fuad died after a heart attack. Prince Farouk, then in England, quickly returned to his homeland to inherit the throne.

At that time, the new emperor Farouk was a talented, ambitious man. The king wanted to bring Egypt to the world.

The people greatly appreciated this king and considered him the hope of the country. On the train to Europe, the beautiful young girl Farida and the brave and handsome king fell in love at first sight.

The relationship of the two people is absolutely supported by the families of both sides. Therefore, a year later, the couple’s wedding was held the most lavish and popular at that time, taking place at Qubba Palace.

Marriage “breaks the burden” because the prince inherits

Since becoming Queen, thanks to inheriting a modern education, Ms. Farida has made her mark with her duties to help the community, especially women. She received the honorary presidency of the Egyptian Feminist Union and the New Women’s Union.

Doria Shafik, an Egyptian journalist and expert, said that Queen Farida’s departure from an unhappy marriage was like a call for women to have the courage to free themselves and find freedom for themselves.

“In exchange for her freedom, Mrs. Farida gave up her crown. This is an act of daring never seen before in the history of an Egyptian woman.”Doria Shafik said.
