Queen Farida’s real name is Safinaz Zulficar, she was born in 1921, in the city of Alexandria in a prominent family.

Her paternal grandfather was a high-ranking officer in the Egyptian army, her father was a famous judge, and her mother was a keen politician. Farida’s mother was also a servant of the Egyptian Queen Nazli Sabri at that time.

Born in such a famous family, from an early age, Ms. Farida received a formal education. She attended a famous Francophone school in Egypt.

Farida did not disappoint her family as she was an outstandingly talented person: fluent in French, excellent at playing the piano, gifted in painting, and proficient in hunting. In particular, she also possesses a heart-fluttering beauty.

Since becoming Queen, thanks to inheriting a modern education, Ms. Farida has made her mark with her duties to help the community, especially women. She received the honorary presidency of the Egyptian Feminist Union and the New Women’s Union.

The queen is also the patron of a charity organization dedicated to helping Egyptian schoolgirls be more active in the social community. Mrs. Farida at that time was the ideal model of young girls at that time: Beautiful, talented and independent, confident.

Unfortunately, in more than 10 years together, Mrs. Farida only gave birth to 3 princesses, Ferial, Fawzia and Fadia.

Later, she moved to Paris to live from 1968 – 1974. Finally, she returned to her native Egypt to live the last years of her life here.

During her time living abroad, Ms. Farida did not remarry and focused on developing her artistic talent. She organizes several solo art exhibitions in different countries around the world.

Former Queen Farida was hospitalized in September 1988 due to several health problems, including leukemia, pneumonia and hepatitis. She died on October 16, 1988 in Cairo, at the age of 67.
