TikTok tests mobile gaming in Vietnam

According to Neowin, TikTok hopes the move will help boost ad revenue and encourage billions of users to spend more time on the app. TikTok’s move is similar to what Netflix did by allowing customers to play video games mobile games monopoly.

Of course, TikTok’s move into gaming is not as urgent as what happened with Netflix – the company is losing users to rival services like Disney+.

Vietnam was chosen as a test site because 70% of users are under the age of 35 – which is a target of TikTok. The source also added that the gaming function could come to other Southeast Asian countries as soon as the third quarter of this year. Games use HTML5 so they can work on mobile and desktop if TikTok want to do that.

A representative from the company said the games will come from third-party developers and studios like Zynga. It would be interesting if TikTok connects games with its existing video platform by allowing users to share clips from their gaming activity.
