BMW XM camouflaged test run on the street

The BMW XM has been announced by the German automaker and is the first independently developed by the M division since the M1.

The Concept XM model has caused much controversy of BMW is in the process of building and developing into a real production model. The official images of the pre-production prototype of the BMW XM have been released by the German automaker. Although the car is discreetly camouflaged, it also partly helps fans visualize what the car will look like when it comes out. This is also the model that BMW’s high-performance M division has developed independently since the M1.

As can be seen in the image, the BMW XM has thin, sharp LED headlights placed right under the bonnet, this design is similar to that on the new 7 Series. The grille is still the brand’s signature kidney shape, while the high hood is similar to that on the concept car.

Seen from the side, the BMW XM has almost the same dimensions as the concept model, on the production version will be added a door handle. Meanwhile, at the rear of the car, the taillights are elongated, and the diffuser is somewhat less aggressive than the concept version with hexagonal exhaust pipes.

Like the concept, the production XM uses a plug-in-hybrid powertrain that includes a new V8 engine. This total system gives a maximum capacity of 650 horsepower and 800 Nm of torque, accompanied by a 4-wheel drive xDrive system. It is expected that the XM will be able to travel entirely on electricity 48 Km.

BMW M says it will take a long time for the XM testing to be completed. The automaker’s engineers want a 50:50 ratio of their engineers to capacity. The BMW XM is expected to debut in the coming months and production begins in December of this year in Spartanburg, South Carolina. According to some sources, XM has Red Label, Black Label and Competition versions.
