Eat burgers every day for 50 years

AmericaDon Gorske fell in love with McDonald’s burgers from the first bite and has eaten them every day for the past 50 years.

When he was 10 years old, Don Gorske told his father that when he was an adult, he would eat at McDonald’s every day. “When I was a kid, I used to say a lot of silly things,” Gorske, now 68, said on May 19. “Who would have thought it would come true.”

The man living in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, USA, on May 18 celebrated the 50th anniversary of eating the first Big Mac burger and maintained that hobby every day for the past half century.

Since 1972, Gorske has consumed 32,943 of the fast food brand’s famous pies. The McDonald’s near Gorske’s house hangs his picture on the wall, and every employee has this particular customer’s name.

He explained that “the first time I ate this dish, I just thought it was the best I’ve ever eaten”, so he continued his hobby. After many years, Gorske claims, each bun consisting of two layers of beef with cheese and special sauce is still “as good as the first”.

“I never get bored,” he said.

The Guinness World Records organization in 1999 recognized Gorske as the person who ate the most Big Mac sandwiches in the world with 15,490 pieces. Guinness updated this title last August, when the amount of Gorske cake eaten reached 32,340.

Gorske insists this habit does not affect his health. He never had to go to the doctor, but regularly checked his blood fat and blood pressure, all of which were stable.

Gorske even says his hobby is a “gift” to his wife, who has never had to cook for him. “My kitchen is always as new as the day we got married in 1973,” says Gorske.

In addition to Big Mac sandwiches and coke, Gorske tries to maintain healthy living habits, eating more vegetables and fruits, never ordering fries and also not snacking.

He often walks, works mentally, helps his son sell goods. Gorske also regularly writes letters to the families of deceased former colleagues, with whom he worked as a warden for 25 years.

Gorske has many friends and acquaintances thanks to his hobby of eating Big Macs. He often corresponds with a man with similar interests in Melbourne, Australia, who has gifted him many collections of cartoon characters.

Gorske received many gifts that he considered treasures: a pair of Ronald McDonald clown shoes, a classic McDonald’s straw holder, an old Ronald McDonald doll that a person Gorske had never met. donated before his death.

These items are part of a collection of memorabilia that Gorske has collected over the decades, filling the attic and basement of the house. He also kept many of the Big Mac wrappers, showing the design change over the years. Gorske always felt that every connection he made with the Big Mac was magical.

“I was very moved,” he said. “I really appreciate people who appreciate my hobby and want to be friends with me ever since.”
