Lan Phuong ‘Loves a sunny day’: Tired from crying too much, there are months when going to the hospital is like ‘meal’

“Love the sunny day” part 2 is the movie that is “storming” the Vietnamese screen in recent times. In addition to the controversy related to the film’s content, the majority of the audience gave “rain” of praise for the emotional performance of actress Lan Phuong – taking on the role of Van Khanh.

Infonet had a conversation with Lan Phuong about the tearful role she is taking on.

– Khanh’s situation is quite tragic, how do you feel about this character?

When reading the script for part 1, Khanh’s character was not too tragic, so he did not have too many impressions because besides the scene of scolding his mother-in-law and being drunk, Khanh did not stand out too much.

But in part 2, the tragedy, called the ultimate tragedy of Khanh, Phuong felt miserable for her character.

However, it was also an opportunity for me to try out a tragic role, to feel the character’s pain to the fullest, to reach the bottom of emotions that I had never experienced in life. Thanks to that, Phuong thinks her acting is also better and more mature. And Khanh over time will also become strong to overcome all storms.

– Lan Phuong likes to play happy or sad roles that take away the audience’s tears and sympathy?

I like both. Before, I used to play more cheerful roles. Perhaps, coming to the role of Van Khanh is his most tragic and painful role ever. With Phuong, acting happy or sad, I like them both, the important thing is that the character is good and has emotions.

In order to highlight the character’s image, I will read the script in my own ways. Often Phuong will find angles that most people won’t see or other actors don’t care about. When acting, I myself find the strengths and hidden corners that no one pays attention to to make the character more interesting. Thanks to that, every time Phuong does a good job, everyone will always remember her, whether she’s a hater or a lover.

Phuong thinks she is suitable for all types of roles, as long as it is clear, there are some special circumstances, only people with special characteristics are interesting. And when people are interesting, I am also interesting, more colors are more receptive to the audience.

– Does Khanh’s character make you obsessed in real life after finishing acting, going home?

Every time she plays the role of Khanh and has to cry too much, Phuong will also be sad. Many days when I come home, I feel very heavy, very tired.

Even there are scenes of crying from morning to night, 2-3 days later, Phuong is less tired and less melancholy. But fortunately every time I come home, have a husband, have children, I am also happier and more comfortable.

– There is so much suffering to Khanh, can you sympathize with the character in that Khanh is too weak, leading to constant suffering?

First, I worship Khanh. She has things that to Phuong, it is a strength that not everyone has. Living in a difficult situation is like that, but people still see happy laughter in Khanh’s small nest. Because, there are many people, in such circumstances, it is easy to become depressed, irritable or angry on their husbands and children. But Khanh is not like that.

Khanh wants to save the marriage and try to improve her relationship with her husband, but it’s both fortunate and unfortunate when the incident of being cheated and raped happened, making Khanh stronger with her decision, which is Get out of this family.

– Do you hate the character of mother-in-law? The audience is also curious if she met her mother-in-law like that in real life, how would she behave?

Having a mother-in-law like this is a real headache! I’m lucky that I don’t have such a case, but if in real life, encountering this situation, Phuong will be more decisive. I can choose to live separately from far away, have rules with my husband, negotiate with my husband to have my own arrangements such as how many days to meet my mother, find a way to arrange my life better. It is important not to depend on anyone for a more active and better life.

– Did your husband watch your movie, how did he react? What about mother-in-law (foreigner)? Many people are curious about the relationship with Lan Phuong’s mother-in-law in real life?

Phuong’s husband doesn’t have much time to watch movies, but he still knows about the movie he plays through colleagues and friends. His colleagues say every day that his wife is suffering, the press writes this and that… Everything he knows, sometimes knows Phuong before. I’m busy myself, after filming, I still take care of my children, run the business…

As for my mother-in-law, I only see her about twice a year. Currently, she is in Vietnam visiting her grandchildren. Phuong’s parents-in-law are good, gentle and cute people. Phuong’s mother-in-law is quite emotional and loves her children very much. Every time I needed help, she did her best to help.

– What is your most impressive memory when filming “Love the sunny day”?

The most impressive memory is that the film shoots from summer, through autumn to winter, clothes have to change constantly. There are winter days when you still have to wear summer clothes, in summer you wear winter clothes to finish the scene.

When I was filming part 1 of the movie, I was just starting a business while taking care of my children. At that time, I felt terrible pressure, sometimes had to go to the hospital 3 times in a few months. However, this exhausting process makes me sympathize with Khanh more, connect with the character more.

“Love the sunny day” is also almost Phuong’s journey, the journey of a mother who started her own business alone, also overcomes difficulties, loneliness and lost like Khanh.

– Can you reveal a little bit about Khanh’s upcoming reaction when there is so much trouble and suffering surrounding her?

Khanh is in the darkest period of his life. She is struggling, trying to get rid of those sufferings, fighting every day so that she can find happiness for her children, so that her mother will be less miserable and less worried. It was a journey full of courage and emotion.

Sometimes people have to go through such tragedies in order to grow up and become stronger. Phuong believes so!
