Vietnam ranks 3rd out of 54 countries and territories investing in Laos

In an interview with TNVN reporter residing in Laos, Lao Minister of Planning and Investment Khamjane Vongphosy said that there are currently 417 investment projects of Vietnamese enterprises in Laos with a total investment of about approx. 4.3 billion USD, ranking 3rd out of 54 countries and territories investing in Laos.

In 2021, the Lao government has licensed 3 investment projects of Vietnamese enterprises, of which 2 are in the mining sector and 1 in the banking sector. Lao Minister of Planning and Investment Khamjane Vongphosy added:

The Lao government is also continuing to coordinate to handle difficult issues in the implementation of a number of large-scale projects of enterprises of the two countries in the fields of energy, minerals, infrastructure construction, manufacturing. agro-forestry to be able to implement in accordance with the signed agreement.

In 2021, the total two-way trade turnover will reach 1.37 billion USD, up 33.3% compared to 2020. In 2022, the two countries strive to increase the total trade turnover to 10-15% according to the two targets. the parties have agreed in the period of 2021-2025; creating favorable conditions for businesses and people in the border areas of the two countries to increase trade exchanges.

The Minister of Planning and Investment of Laos emphasized that the results of cooperation achieved by the two sectors of Planning and Investment, as well as the Cooperation Committee of the two countries Laos – Vietnam, Vietnam – Laos have made important contributions to the development of the relationship between the two countries Vietnam – Laos increasingly goes into depth and breadth.
