Targeting the Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics majors, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, Ngoc Tu only won more than 720 points in the first round. Tu has almost no hope of winning a place in this top university, because the school’s benchmark scores are mostly above 800 for many years. Tu is also not confident with the method of reviewing high school graduation exam scores. “Therefore, retaking the ability assessment is the biggest hope for me to enter my dream school. Since I have experience in the first round, I hope to get about 100 more points,” Tu said.

According to Tu, the most difficult questions in the first test fell in Math, Logic and English, because these are not her strengths. In nearly two months of studying for the re-test, Tu practiced logic exercises, practiced many reading and understanding exercises in English.

At the test scores of University of Economics and Law, Urban Area of National University, Ho Chi Minh City, Thu Duc City, Kim Phuong was quite confident because she had experience in the previous exam.

In the first round, Phuong got 873 points – quite good compared to the common ground but not enough to pass the aspirations of an International Economics major, University of Economics and Law, Ho Chi Minh City because last year’s benchmark was over 900. “Passed the second exam. Most of all, I feel that I still lack a lot of knowledge in social subjects such as Literature, History, and Geography, so I tried to improve”, Kim Phuong hopes to get another 50 points this time.

According to the Center for Testing and Evaluation of Training Quality (National University of Ho Chi Minh City), the difficulty of the second exam is equivalent to the first, due to the same bank of exam questions. Accordingly, the test has 120 objective multiple-choice questions, and the test time is 150 minutes. The test structure consists of three parts: language use; Mathematics, logical thinking and data analysis; problem solving.

In the first exam, nearly 80,000 candidates took the ability assessment test at 80 points in 17 provinces and cities. After the exam date, the Examination Board admit The problem has two incorrect questions: one with the same answer and one that lacks the necessary information to solve. The committee decides the maximum score for all candidates on these questions.

With a scale of 1,200, the average score of candidates taking the first exam is 646; The highest candidate scored 1,087 points, the lowest 210 points. The scores of the first round were skewed to the left, showing lower results compared to previous years. This is explained as candidates affected by the slower learning progress than in previous years and the lengthy online learning process.

For both exams, the number of contestants is 94,000 with 120,000 registrations. Currently, 84 universities and colleges use this exam results to enroll students, of which there are 10 member schools and faculties of Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City.
