A series of iPhones with eSim errors

The eSim error causes iMessage and FaceTime features to be disabled and users have to use a physical sim to fix it.

Mark Gurman, journalist of Bloomberg specializes in reporting on Apple, said he was one of the victims of this situation. His iPhone uses eSim with T-Mobile and randomly disables these two features with no way to fix it.

Gurman said he had tried all measures Apple given but could not solve the problem. The iMessage and FaceTime features were back to normal only when he went to the carrier store and asked for support. “The only solution that worked was to use a new physical sim card. Extremely disappointed,” he wrote on Twitter.

After sharing the above, many people also reported the same situation. User Christopher Munz said that the iPhone 13 Pro Max has disabled these two features, but Apple’s customer care department did not find any problems on the device and suggested he work with the carrier. However, the carrier also took many measures such as restoring settings, renewing eSim for Munz three times, but they were unable to reactivate iMessage and FaceTime.

“Many partners have complained about having to contact me via iCloud email instead of phone number for weeks. It wasn’t until I switched to a physical sim that it fixed it,” said a technology expert named Vardhan, also be a victim of the above situation, share.

Most of the problems are reported on iPhone 13 series devices and running iOS 15.4 or higher operating system, using eSim of many carriers such as T-Mobile, Verizon, AT&T, AirTel…

Apple has not yet commented on the matter. Meanwhile, Gurman has worked with the carrier and is confirmed the situation “has happened to many users but Apple has not been able to solve it”.

eSim is a chip built into the iPhone board, helping users only need to register with the carrier to activate instead of attaching a physical sim. This technology has been put on Apple phones since 2018, on some devices such as iPhone XR, XS and later. Thanks to that, users can use multiple sims on iPhone at the same time. On iPhone 13, the device can register 2 eSims at the same time.
