For two years now, my mother is old and weak, lying in one place, unable to serve herself. Fortunately, the mother lives with her younger brother and his wife, so she has a place to rely on.

I know that my sister-in-law takes good care of her mother, so I feel very secure. Therefore, I rarely go back to my hometown, but can only call to ask about my mother’s situation every day. Last month, my sister-in-law said that my mother is very weak and I don’t know how long I will live, so I should arrange a time to visit her once.

Last week I took a leave of absence and went back to visit my mother. For a few days back home, I just massaged my hands and feet and sometimes fed my mother with rice. All other things, my sister-in-law took it all in, because she was afraid that I would work hard.

The day before yesterday, my sister-in-law’s biological uncle passed away, so all the children were away, leaving only me and my mother at home. Without a sister-in-law, I find I can do everything myself to help my mother. But when I changed diapers and bathed my mother, I realized that everything was not easy.

My mother weighs more than 70kg, but my sister-in-law helps my mother to clean easily. I admired her so much that I praised her in front of my mother.

My mother said that she appreciates the filial piety of her sister-in-law, without her taking care of her for two years now, she probably wouldn’t have been able to live to this day. My mother said that my brother is very difficult, how much money he makes, he keeps for himself. When my sister-in-law asked for money, my brother scolded his wife to make her mouth happy before giving money. Sometimes my mother even had to help her sister-in-law with money.

But so far, I have always sent money to my brother, thinking that he would give it to my sister-in-law to take care of the family, but I never expected to keep it for myself. If my mother didn’t tell me, my family would be indebted to my sister-in-law for the rest of my life.

Last night, when my sister-in-law came home from work, I asked for her account number and planned to transfer 300 million VND. I said the money was to pay her thanks for taking care of her mother these past few years. However, the sister-in-law refused to accept, saying that her mother had taken care of the grandchildren for 10 years. Now that his mother is old, he and his wife have to take care of them, so I don’t have to think about it.

I really don’t know how to convince my sister-in-law to accept that money!
