Last night (May 21), information from the People’s Procuracy of Dak Lak province said that this agency had approved the decision to prosecute the accused and the arrest warrant for 28 subjects (residing in communes). Before that, at the beginning of May 2022, after receiving information about the massive destruction of forests of a collective nature in Ya To Mot commune, in the border district of Ea Sup. The People’s Committee of Dak Lak province has directed the Dak Lak Provincial Police and the People’s Procuracy of this province to quickly conduct an investigation and clarify.

After a period of investigation, the authorities of Dak Lak province determined that the total area with signs of abuse is 382.07 hectares located in plots 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 sub-districts. zone 205, Ya To Mot commune, Ea Sup district (land managed by the People’s Committee of Ya To Mot commune).

In addition to the above-mentioned area, a part of the forest area in plots 2 and 3, sub-zone 222, Ya To Mot commune, Ea Sup district (land managed by Duc Tam Co., Ltd.) was also cleared.

Up to now, the authorities have arrested 28 subjects, the subjects after being taken into custody have admitted their crimes. The case is currently under investigation.

Before that, at the beginning of May 2021, right after the above deforestation was discovered, Mr. Dang Cong Tao, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Ya To Mot commune confirmed that most of the destroyed forest area belonged to sub-zone 205 and had been assigned to a local authority. groups of households to manage, look after and protect.

However, Mr. Tao also informed that there are many households who have applied for the return of the above forest area, so the authorities have assigned it to the People’s Committee of Ya To Mot commune to manage.

It is known that in the past time, the forest in Ya To Mot commune, Ea Sup district has been continuously destroyed on a large scale, specifically from 2021 up to now, in Ya To Mot commune continuously occurred. large-scale deforestation. A typical example is deforestation and encroachment on forest land in the forest stand managed by Minh Hang Co., Ltd.

Only from June to August 2021, the People’s Committee of Ya To Mot Commune discovered a total of nearly 32 hectares of forestry land in the forest area of ​​Minh Hang Co., Ltd., which had been bulldozed into lots and parcels for agricultural production. In which, there is 30ha of land (belonging to the rubber plantation project) which is bulldozed by 2 guards of Minh Hang Company for cultivation and 1.7ha of natural forest land.

Also in 2021, the Forest Protection Department of Ea Sup district received and handled four illegal deforestation cases in the forest stand managed by Minh Hang Company, with a damaged area of ​​nearly 60 hectares of forest.
