The only scorer for the red shirt team was Nham Manh Dung with a perfect header in the 84th minute.
Sharing after the match, Manh Dung said that this was the most valuable goal of his career because it helped Vietnam U23 successfully defend the gold medal.
“Really, my feelings right now are hard to describe. In order to get the gold medal, the whole team had to face a lot of difficulties, but with the team’s efforts, U23 Vietnam overcame them all.
I would like to dedicate this goal to the fans across the country, who have always accompanied and supported U23 Vietnam all the way.”
Regarding the gameplay in the match against Thailand, Manh Dung affirmed that Coach Park Hang-seo had a careful calculation.
“The opponent was very strong, controlling the ball well, so Mr. Park directed the whole team to play firmly, work hard to close and counterattack quickly when opportunities appeared.”
Closing the exchange, Manh Dung thanked the fans who did not mind the rain still filling My Dinh stadium, giving strength to U23 Vietnam.
