Vietnamese women are rewarded with nearly 5 billion VND

This amount includes two billion VND from the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), one billion VND from Quang Ninh province, 1.5 billion VND from a corporation and 100 million VND – the bonus of the SEA Games organizers for a gold medal.

The amount of prize money may increase in the near future, when many individuals and organizations want to honor the convincing journey of Vietnamese girls to the throne.

If including the bonuses from before the final, the team under coach Mai Duc Chung has about 6.6 billion VND in prize money from the days of the 31st SEA Games competition.

When they overcame Myanmar in the semi-finals, the Vietnamese women’s team was awarded 1.3 billion VND, with 800 million from VFF, 200 million from Quang Ninh province and 300 million from a business. Before that, VFF awarded 700 million VND when the team won the Philippines in the opening match in the group stage

In the final match at Cam Pha on the evening of May 21, the Vietnamese women didn’t start very well, but still dominated most of the time. The team created a lot of opportunities on the Thai side, and one of them was concretized by captain Huynh Nhu to decide the 1-0 victory in the 59th minute.

This result helped Vietnamese women win gold medals at three consecutive congresses. This is also the seventh gold medal, helping Vietnamese women’s football hold a unique position at the SEA Games, because Thailand has just won the throne.

The winning achievement on the 31st SEA Games journey is also an important spiritual boost for Vietnamese women to confidently look forward to the final round of the 2023 Women’s Soccer World Cup, which will take place in Auckland, Australia in July next year.
