A series of iPhones with serious errors

An eSIM bug has appeared on iPhones that prevent users from accessing iMessage and FaceTime.

Mark Gurman, a Bloomberg journalist specializing in Apple coverage, said he was one of the victims of this situation. His iPhone used eSim with T-Mobile and suddenly disabled these two features with no way to fix it.

What is eSIM?

ESIM is a chip built into the motherboard of the iPhone. Apple first brought an eSIM to the iPhone when it launched the iPhone XR and XS in 2018.

eSIM offers two key benefits: easier setup and the ability to use two phone numbers on the same device. For iPhone 13, users don’t even need to insert a physical SIM when using two phone numbers.

Gurman tweeted his experience of having to resort to a physical SIM after other troubleshooting steps failed.

“There is a very annoying bug on iPhone and TMobile where my iMessage and FaceTime have been randomly disabled and there is no way to re-enable it. The only solution to this problem is to use a SIM card. new physics. This is an extremely disappointing bug,” Gurman said. Gurman also added that this bug currently appears on iOS 15.4, iOS 15.5 and iOS 15.6 beta 1 versions.

Accordingly, Gurmana was forced to contact the carrier directly so that they could reissue the physical SIM card for him. A T-Mobile representative also shared with him that other users have contacted the store with a similar issue and that Apple is currently unable to resolve this serious issue.

After sharing the above, many people also reported the same situation. User Christopher Munz said that the iPhone 13 Pro Max has disabled these two features, but Apple’s customer care department did not find any problems on the device and suggested he work with the carrier. However, the carrier also took many measures such as restoring settings, renewing eSim for Munz three times, but they were unable to reactivate iMessage and FaceTime.

“Many partners have complained about having to contact me via iCloud email instead of a phone number for weeks at a time until I was forced to switch to a new physical sim to overcome the above situation,” said the expert. Technologist named Vardhan, also a victim of the above situation, shared.

Apple has not yet commented on the matter. Meanwhile, Gurman has worked with the carrier and is confirmed the situation “has happened to many users but Apple has not been able to solve it”.

It is known that not only the T-Mobile carrier is faulty, but even Verizon or Airtel from India have encountered a similar situation.
