C-size high-rise car – CR-V returns to the track with CX-5

Sales Honda CR-VA gradually decrease from the second half of 2020 onward, when this airline move to domestic assembly instead of importing Thailand. Since then, the second place regularly held by CR-V has been transferred to Tucson, the Korean model is also assembled domestically, but by Hyundai Thanh Cong. By April 2022, the situation of the segment changed when CR-V exploded again.

In April, Honda CR-V sold 2,093 vehicles, the highest level since 2021. Sample accrual Honda’s CUV reached 4,638 vehicles, nearly equal to the sales of the whole year of 2021 (5,854 vehicles). Compared to the same period in 2021, sales of car models increased by 158%.

April sales of CR-VAT More than 200 vehicles ahead of the CX-5 and leading the segment. The sales volume of CR-V far exceeds that of Hyundai Tucson (580 cars), Outlander (592 cars). Accumulated, sales of Honda models are behind Mazda CX-5.

Sales of CR-V increased dramatically thanks to many objective and subjective factors. The first is rival Hyundai Tucson, which has just entered a new generation, with high demand but affected by the interrupted supply of assembled components, which makes the factory not enough complete cars to deliver to dealers.

Honda is also affected by supply, but not as badly as the Tucson. Currently, customers ordering a Tucson can wait 2-3 months to receive the car, while the CR-V either has a vehicle for immediate delivery or waits for about a month.

Another factor that helps CR-V sales increase is the customer’s immediate need for a car to “run” the registration fee discount of 50% for assembled cars, which will end on June 1. “The models that are available at this stage have an advantage, the CR-V is one such model,” said a sales manager of a Honda dealership in Ho Chi Minh City.

CX-5 still maintained a good sales level with sales of 1,843 vehicles in April. This is the highest level since the beginning of 2022 for the model Mazda. The CX-5 is also in a favorable position to increase sales like the CR-V, but the supply is not as abundant as the competition. In the last group, Mitsubishi Outlander still the slowest, sales after 4 months reached more than 1,700 cars.

The C-size CUV segment has other models such as Subaru Forester, Volkswagen Tiguan, MG HS but distributors do not publish specific sales figures.
