Gasoline prices increase, businesses are “difficult to husband”

Reorienting the business plan to balance production costs is being actively implemented by enterprises.

Petroleum always accounts for 30-40% of the transportation cost structure, so when gas price increased, businesses had to double their costs to maintain 27 container trucks going to the provinces. Besides saving solutions by combining flights, businesses are forced to choose a solution to reduce profits to retain customers.

“Oil increased, for example, 300,000 – 400,000 VND, but we only ask customers to share, only increased to 150,000 – 200,000 VND”, said Mr. Le Dang Tam, Director of Vijai Logistics Company.

Economic experts say that in the long run, businesses need to restructure production to limit incurred costs, and at the same time find solutions to promote consumption and increase promotions to stimulate demand.

“Businesses need to review unnecessary costs, so it is required that you rationalize production, change processes and technologies; take advantage of technologies that use less energy and consume less energy,” said Mr. Do. Thien Anh Tuan, Lecturer of the Fulbright Economics Teaching Program, said.

Not only affected by petrol, but also other costs that make up the price such as taxes, tolls, storage fees, logistics fees… are high, causing the product to be overpriced. Therefore, the state needs to review the fees to help businesses reduce the burden of fees and have conditions to restore production in the difficult context after the epidemic.
