Mercedes has just successfully sold the most expensive car in the world

On Thursday, Mercedes-Benz confirmed it had successfully sold the world’s most expensive car – a very rare 1995 Mercedes-Benz SLR coupe. The transaction price in the last deal of this car was $142 million.

According to Hagerty, a company that tracks the value of collectors’ cars, this impressive figure makes it the most expensive car ever sold. It is known that the proceeds from the sale of the car will be used to establish the Mercedes-Benz Foundation – a global scholarship fund.

The Mercedes for sale is one of two 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coupe prototypes, which has a top speed of around 186 mph. Brian Rabold, vice president of Hagerty, said: “Their race cars from the 1930s to 1950s are rare and most are still factory owned. So any one that hits the market is wildly sought after.”

Currently, the identity of the new owner of this record car is still kept secret.
