After being stopped from supplying gas by Russia, Poland has been using the reverse supply from Germany through this pipeline.

Ms. Moskwa asserted that intergovernmental agreements with Russia violate European law and will no longer apply. The Yamal pipeline is operating under European law.

At the end of March 2022, Russia asked “unfriendly countries” – those participating in sanctions and freezing Russia’s foreign currency reserves – to pay for energy contracts in rubles. Poland refused to respond to this request.
