“Startled” with gas prices in Russia

According to a latest study by Sputnik, Kazakhstan occupies the top position in the list of countries with high prices gas Cheapest to sell to people, second is Russia.

The cheapest gas sold to residents, the study said, is in Kazakhstan, at 4.1 rubles ($0.068) a cubic meter. Russia is second at 6.7 rubles ($0.11) per cubic meter. Belarus is in third place, where it costs 9.7 rubles ($0.16) a cubic meter. The 5 countries with the cheapest gas are also Turkey and Hungary.

Research clearly shows that the gas supply to the final consumer is determined not only by price but also by income level.

Kazakhstan ranks first in the ranking of countries in terms of gas supplies to their people, and Russia is second, according to the study.

An average Kazakh resident can buy 8.6 thousand cubic meters of gas with their average monthly salary. Russia is second with 7.4 thousand cubic meters.

The United Kingdom, Luxembourg and Austria also rank high in terms of gas availability to residents. Meanwhile, Moldova is at the bottom of the list – its people can buy the least gas with the average salary (858 cubic metres).

Research shows that gas prices in Europe will remain above the multi-year average until the end of 2022. Last year, gas price increased by more than 35% in 11 countries, while in Russia it increased by 2.6%.
