On the evening of May 23, the police of Ho Chi Minh City said they had arrested the suspect who robbed a gold shop in Binh Thanh district.
According to Ho Chi Minh City Police, the incident happened at 13:08 on May 23 at Son Trang gold shop on Xo Viet Nghe Tinh street, ward 25, Binh Thanh district, HCMC.
A male motorcyclist went to the front of the gold shop and went inside, smashed the display glass with a hammer, robbed two 18K gold rings, then got on a motorbike to escape.
The subject Nguyen Van Cuong was arrested by the police.
Immediately after the incident happened, the police quickly investigated and arrested the perpetrators.
Ms. N. (gold shop owner) said that the stolen gold was worth tens of millions of dong.
At 16:05, the functional forces arrested Nguyen Viet Cuong (SN 1999; living in Hiep Binh Chanh ward, Thu Duc city), and recovered the stolen property.

Initially, Cuong confessed that he was addicted to games and needed money to spend, so he thought of robbing a gold shop. Cuong bought a hammer for 15,000 VND to rob.
At noon on May 23, Cuong drove a motorbike to Son Trang gold shop and went inside to ask to buy a gold ring.
Here, taking advantage of the shop owner’s inattentiveness, Cuong snatched the gold ring and smashed the display glass with a hammer to get more assets. Being robbed, the shop owner shouted, so Cuong drove a motorbike to escape.
Cuong confessed that after the successful robbery, he brought the gold ring to sell to two gold shops in ward 13, Binh Thanh district to get money to top up his game account and was arrested afterwards.
The authorities are currently continuing to investigate the case.
