Heavy rain, Hanoi streets into giant parking lots
This morning (May 24), Hanoians struggled to get to work in the pouring rain. Many roads are congested for kilometers, cars and motorbikes move every meter.
Hanoi this morning continued to rain. Rainfall in the past 3 hours ranged from 15-30mm, concentrated in the districts of Ba Dinh, Cau Giay, Hoan Kiem, Hai Ba Trung, Tay Ho and Dong Da.
This rain caused flooding in many inner city streets. Hanoians this morning went to work in the pouring rain. Visibility is limited and many sections of the road are flooded, making it difficult to move. All roads fell into traffic jams, many places congested for kilometers. Seen from above, Hanoi roads look like “giant parking lots”.
At 7:30 a.m. this morning, it was noted that at the tunnel No. 3 (the entrance to the Urban Area of Thien Duong Bao Son, An Khanh, Hoai Duc) there was no longer a deep flood like yesterday. The waterlogging situation is only about 30-40cm in front of the tunnel and about 50cm in the tunnel.
As for the Big C underground tunnel, until 8:30 a.m., the congestion still persisted.
At 9 a.m. at Khuat Duy Tien (Thanh Xuan) towards the Nguyen Xien – Nguyen Trai intersection, the number of vehicles piled up from the elevated Ring Road 3 to prolonged congestion.
