Heavy rain causes heavy damage to people and property

According to the Standing Office of the National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, as of this evening (May 24), localities reported that floods had caused 3 deaths (Tuyen Quang 2 people due to landslides, Hoa Binh province). Regarding housing, floods have damaged 253 houses; more than 9,000ha of rice, flooded and damaged crops; 64ha of aquatic products and 27 cattle, 835 dead poultry.

Besides, floods also caused local flooding, landslides of 24,619 m3 of soil and rock at many points on National Highways 2, 279, 4C, 4D, provincial roads 170, 171, 177, 204, 212 and many intersections. rural communication. There is still National Highway 4D (Lao Cai) and some inter-commune roads with difficult access.

The meteorological agency predicts that from tomorrow (May 25), large-scale heavy rains in the North and North Central will gradually decrease. Particularly in the Northern midland and mountainous areas, thunderstorms will continue until June 3, with heavy rain locally, and the time of thunderstorms will be concentrated in the evening and at night. The Northern Delta region from May 26 to June 3 will maintain intermittent sunny weather, with showers and thunderstorms in some places, especially on the night of May 27, there will be scattered showers and thunderstorms.

In addition, in the afternoon and tomorrow evening (May 25), in the Central Highlands and the South, there will be showers and thunderstorms with an amount of 20-30mm, local heavy rain with an amount of over 50mm. It is forecasted that a large-scale thunderstorm in the Central Highlands and Southern regions is likely to last until May 29 (the time for thunderstorms will be in the afternoon and evening).

During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong winds. There is a very high risk of flash floods and landslides in the mountainous provinces of the North and North Central and flooding in low-lying areas.
