Mitsubishi eK X – electric mini Outlander

JapaneK X is an affordable electric kei car (K-car) suitable for inner city commuting.

The pure electric model is the newest member of eK X . line (X is read as cross). The car has been sold in Japan since the summer of this year.

eK X looks familiar because of his “brother” appearance Outlander. The front of the car is like a brick wall, the sides are also almost vertical planes. Mitsubishi still promotes the eK X series as a kei car with SUV styling.

In Japan, the electric eK X starts at just $14,000 – significantly lower than current electric models. With this amount, customers have a green car that can run up to 180 km per charge – a suitable distance for traveling in the city. The 20 kWh battery fully charges in 8 hours with regular power, and takes about 40 minutes to charge 0-80% with fast charging.

According to Mitsubishi, a survey by the company shows that about 80% of people using kei cars as well as small cars usually only go 50 km or less per day.

The power of the eK X EV is also modest. The car has a capacity of 63 horsepower and 195 Nm of torque. These parameters are enough for someone to run around in the city with a daily journey.

Digital instrument cluster, touch screen for the 7- or 9-inch infotainment system depending on the version. The car sells two versions of equipment including the standard G and the high-end P version.

Standard safety system with automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, automatic high beams, accelerator control and traffic signal recognition. Vehicles equipped with 7 airbags, ABS, electronic brake force distribution, electronic balance, front and rear parking sensors as well as support for horizontal departure.

Like the Outlander based on the Nissan Rogue/X-Trail, the eK X EV is co-developed between Mitsubishi and Nissan thanks to The alliance has been around for a long time. Nissan’s version is called Sakura and looks like a miniature version of the electric car Nissan Ariya.
