On May 24, the People’s Court of Nghe An province opened a first-instance trial against Hoang Van Trung (SN 1994, resident of Vo Liet commune, Thanh Chuong district, Nghe An province) for the crime of “illegal trading in substances” drugs” and “Having the illegal use of narcotics”.

Related to this case, Hoang Van Quang (SN 1976, resident in Vo Liet commune) was prosecuted for “Illegal transportation of narcotics” and “Illegally possessing narcotics”; prosecuted Le Van Dong (SN 1978, residing in Thanh Ha commune, Thanh Chuong district) for the crime of “Illegal transportation of narcotics”.

According to the case file, while doing business in Laos, Hoang Van Trung knew a Lao man (unknown background, specific address). When he returned to Vietnam, in September 2021, Trung ordered 2kg of methamphetamine from Laos at the price of 10,000 USD to sell for a profit. Trung hired his uncle Hoang Van Quang to pick up the goods, then Quang invited Le Van Dong to go with him.

When he met a Lao man in the border area of ​​Ngoc Lam commune (Thanh Chuong district), Quang handed over money and received 2 packs of drugs with a weight of 1,987.42 grams. At the same time, this man gave Quang 1 pack of drugs weighing 12.72g and 2 packs of heroin costing 0.33g, Quang hid this drug for use.

Around 0:30 on October 2, 2021, when Quang and Dong were transporting drugs to Trung, they were discovered and caught by the police. Through struggle and exploitation, at about 3:15 on the same day, the police broke into Trung’s house and arrested him. At this time, there are still some drug users in Trung’s house.

Through the process of questioning and public debate at the trial, considering the nature, extent and role of each defendant in the case, the jury sentenced defendant Hoang Van Trung to death for the crime of “illegal trading in substances” drugs”, 2 years in prison for the crime of “Having the illegal use of narcotics”; The total punishment for defendant Trung is death.
