United Nations adopts resolution on global food security

In the context of the alarming increase in food prices worldwide, last night, Vietnam time, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution calling on the international community to urgently coordinate and support affected countries. by the crisis Food Security.

The resolution titled “Global Food Insecurity” was adopted by the General Assembly without a vote, which realizes the UN Secretary-General’s initiative to create a Crisis Response Team. global food, energy and finance.

The resolution also calls on UN member states and stakeholders to maintain supply chains for agricultural products and food; emphasized the need to keep markets open and trade smoothly in food, fuel, fertilizer and agricultural products. Limit hoarding of food and goods.

Several other provisions of the resolution call on the international community, including the G7 and G20 groups, to place global food security at the top of their agenda. It also supports multilateral efforts in finding possible solutions to the ongoing food crisis.

Currently, food security is one of the central topics on the agenda of the United Nations. In less than a week, there have been 3 meetings related to this issue, 2/3 of the meetings have been discussed in the most powerful bodies, the Security Council and the UN General Assembly.
