VN-Index dropped nearly 22 points

The market opened this morning (May 23) in the green, but reversed to fall deeply at the end of the morning session. In the afternoon session, the selling continued to increase so the index dropped deeper. The selling volume was especially strong before the ATC session (trading at the closing price). Index VN-Index at one point lost more than 30 points.

The group share Large-caps simultaneously dropped in price, putting great pressure on the VN-Index. Specifically, in the basket of VN30 stocks, there were 27 decliners, while only 1 increased and 2 stood still. The only stock that reversed up in the VN30 basket was BVH with an increase of 1.2% to VND50,800/share.

Along with that, the group of stocks in banking pillars dropped very deeply. These include STB down 5.8%, TPB down 4.5%, VPB down 4.2%, VIB down 4.1%, CTG down 3.5%, BID down 3.3%, ACB down 2 .1%… Banking group only KLB and PGB remained in green.

In particular, the group of securities stocks had no stocks in the increasing direction. The stocks of this industry fell very deeply. Accordingly, SSI and HCM dropped to the floor. Stocks such as: SHS down 7.5%, MBS down 7%, BVS down 6.8%, CTS down 6.1%, VDS down 5.9%, PSI down 5.4%… Last week, the group stocks had an impressive recovery with many stocks gaining over 20% in just a few sessions.

Red color also covered real estate stocks. The largest capitalization codes in this group such as: VIC, VHM, KDH, NVL, BCM… are all on the bearish side. Small and medium stocks also fell deeply, even many stocks hit the floor like: DIG, HDG.

In oil and gas stocks, some codes such as: BSR, PVC, PVS, PVD gained quite positively, with an increase of 0.9% – 3%.

The negative point in today’s session was the strong net selling of foreign investors. Specifically, foreign investors net sold more than 439 billion dong on HOSE and 3.49 billion dong on HNX, while just bought more than 83 billion dong on UPCOM.

In fact, the trend of net selling of foreign investors has returned. Accordingly, last week foreign investors net sold again 96 billion dong in the whole market, while last week they were quite strong net buyers.

Closing the session on May 23, VN-Index dropped 21.9 points to 1,218.81 points. Trading volume reached more than 557.4 million units, equivalent to more than 13.32.6 billion dong. The whole floor had 91 stocks of gaining, 358 stocks of decreasing and 48 stocks of standing still.

HNX-Index dropped 6.36 points to 300.66 points. Trading volume reached more than 75.1 million units, equivalent to 1,718.2 billion dong. The whole floor had 49 stocks of gaining, 151 stocks of decreasing and 44 stocks of standing still.

UPCOM-Index fell 0.48 points to 93.63 points. Trading volume reached more than 44.47 million units, equivalent to more than 818.7 billion dong. The whole floor had 105 stocks of gaining, 174 stocks of decreasing and 74 stocks of standing still.
