VN-Index soared nearly 15 points at the end of the session

This afternoon session, the demand increased strongly in ATC session (trading at closing price) unexpectedly helped VN-Index is sinking in red, reversing and increasing by nearly 15 points. Many codes share also changed color from red to green in the “surprise” of investors.

Another positive point is that foreign investors returned to be net buyers after yesterday’s strong net selling session. Specifically, this block bought a net of 191.66 billion dong on HOSE; 3.13 billion dong on HNX and 28.77 billion dong on UPCOM. Observing the trading movements, it can be seen that large-cap stocks are the driving force behind the VN-Index and HNX-Index.

On the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange, the VN30 basket had 26 gainers, while only 4 decliners. On the upside, STB increased by 6.9% to the ceiling price. Other codes like SSI up 6%, MSN up 4.3%, VNM up 3.9%, PNJ up 3.3%…

On the bearish side, notably, HPG dropped by up to 5%. HPG shares fell sharply after speaking at the annual general meeting of shareholders of Hoa Phat Group on the morning of May 24.

On the Hanoi exchanges, the HNX-Index also reversed to increase 5.3 points (1.76%) to reach 305.96 points. However, UPCoM-Index still fell 0.54% to 93.12 points.

Overall market breadth remains fairly even after the cash flow reversal. The whole floor had 418 gainers, 465 decliners and 196 stood at reference. Leading the market’s reversal came from large-cap groups, especially banking codes. Basket VN30 gained 17.36 points (1.38%) with 26/30 stocks increasing.

Most impressively, Sacombank’s STB code increased to the limit to 21,750 dong. Besides, VietinBank’s CTG increased by 4% to 26,000 VND, TPBank’s TPB increased by 3% to 30,900 VND, VIB increased by 2.8% or VCB increased by 1.6%…

Besides, the market was also supported by the good momentum of some other key stocks such as MSN of Masan Group up 4.3% to 109,000 dong, VNM of Vinamilk adding 3.9% to 68,900 dong, GAS of PV Gas up 2.2% at 105,800 dong…

On the negative side, petro codes were in red when there were no stocks in the uptrend. Along with that, groups of construction and materials, tourism and entertainment, basic resources… also decreased.

Closing the session on May 24, VN-Index increased 14.57 points to 1,233.38 points. Trading volume reached more than 528.4 million units, equivalent to nearly 13,416 billion VND. The whole floor had 224 stocks of gaining, 210 stocks of decreasing and 67 stocks of standing still.

HNX-Index increased by 5.3 points to 305.96 points. Trading volume reached more than 79.1 million units, equivalent to more than 1,712.3 billion VND. The whole floor had 95 stocks of gaining, 97 stocks of decreasing and 60 stocks of standing still.

UPCOM-Index decreased 0.51 points to 93.12 points. Trading volume reached more than 55.57 million units, equivalent to more than 1,001.6 billion VND. The whole floor had 101 stocks of increasing price, 158 stocks of decreasing and 69 stocks of standing still.
