Australia expands the target audience for booster shots

The move comes as the country is experiencing a bad flu season, with the number of patients infected with flu and COVID-19 at a high level.

Thus, an additional 1.5 million Australians of different groups will be able to participate in the fourth booster injection program. They are people with health problems or weak immune systems, such as people with cancer, people living with people with disabilities, etc.

The fourth dose of vaccine will be given at least 3 months after the third dose of COVID-19 vaccine. People can choose to get one of four COVID-19 vaccines currently licensed in Australia, including AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Moderna and Novavax.

Previously, only people aged 65 and over, Indigenous Australians over 50, people in aged and disabled care facilities, and people over 16 years of age were identified as having impaired systems. New immunity is recommended with a fourth dose.
