Bloody shooting at an elementary school in the US, at least 15 people died
The suspect is 18 years old shootings at an elementary school in Texas, USA, killing at least 14 students and 1 teacher.
According to the State Governor TexasAt least 14 students and one teacher were shot dead on May 24 at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, Mr. Greg Abbott. The 18-year-old male suspect is said to have shot his grandmother before the school shooting, and is now dead.
Mr Abbott announced the death toll at a news conference, shortly after local hospitals reported a spate of children being hit by bullets. Earlier reports suggested that the death toll was much lower and that the suspect was in custody.
Mr Abbott said: “The suspect fatally and inexplicably shot 14 students and killed a teacher.”
According to Abbott, the suspect, identified as Salvador Ramos, drove to Robb Primary School with a handgun and possibly an assault rifle. The suspect is then said to have been shot dead by responding police officers.
Uvalde Police Chief Pete Arredondo described the shooting as “a mass casualty” that happened around 11:30 a.m. local time. Robb Elementary School has students in grades 2-4.
“I can confirm right now that we have a number of injuries, adults and students, and we have a number of deaths. The suspect is dead at this point,” Arredondo said, adding that the shooter appeared to have acted alone.
Currently little is known about the gunman or his relationship with the school. Uvalde and state police, as well as agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) are investigating the scene.
The shooting on May 24 is the 30th mass shooting at a K-12 school (kindergarten to 12th grade) in 2022, according to data from CNN.
Excluding the 24.5 shooting, so far in 2022 there have been at least 38 mass shootings at K-12 schools, colleges and universities, leaving at least 10 dead and 51 injured.

Sunday’s shooting was the deadliest mass shooting at an elementary school since the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, when a gunman killed 26 people in December 2012.
Speaking about the shooting, US Vice President Kamala Harris said: “The president and I are monitoring the situation closely. Although we don’t know all the details, we do know that there are parents who have lost their children. , families have lost children and many others have been injured,” Harris said.
“Every time a tragedy like this happens, our hearts are broken but our broken hearts are nothing compared to the broken hearts of those families. Yet it continues to happen. ‘ said Vice President Harris.
